SDA was established in 1998 in response to the growing demand for quality, professional Martial Arts schools in our communities. With licensed schools throughout the USA, Self Defense America is one of today’s most respected brand names in the Martial Arts industry. When the public sees the SDA name and logo they instantly know that the school is part of a national organization with a reputation for the highest standards in professional instruction, quality service, honesty and stability.
SDA is not a franchise business. Each school is independently owned and operated and each owner / instructor is in complete control of the operations of his / her school. SDA is a licensing body which offers carefully selected schools an opportunity to share a respected and well known “DBA” name and certain resources with an established industry leader:

SDA name and logo is copyrighted, registered trademark and the sole property of Defensive Services International, Inc., headquartered in Chandler, AZ. Only duly licensed schools can use the name and logo of SDA.
SDA licensing is open to existing Martial Arts schools upon proper application and review process. SDA is also available to qualified instructors interested in opening a new Martial Arts school.
SDA does not issue any Martial Arts Certificates. All Martial Arts Rank Certificates received by the students are issued by the school’s instructors and their specific style’s Governing Body (ICHF/ITA).
